Background

The Trust ran a 10 week consultation from 4 November 2014 to 12 January 2015 regarding the draft allocation criteria for Party Election Broadcasts.

As in previous election campaigns, the allocation criteria have been developed by the BBC Executive and will be used to identify those parties eligible for one or more broadcasts on BBC services in advance of the elections being held on 7 May 2015 for:

General Election
English local government (including mayoral elections)

The Trust's decision

The Trust has approved the allocation criteria with no amendments. The Trust has also published a consultation statement document which summarises the consultation responses the Trust received regarding the proposed allocation criteria with the Trust’s decision on those issues raised.

The BBC Executive’s provisional allocation of election broadcasts is subject to final confirmation following the close of nominations in April 2015.

Complaints timetable

The document below sets out the timeframe in which any complaint about the allocation of PEBs needs to be received and dealt with by the BBC. It was amended on 19 February to extend the deadline by which political parties had to raise queries or complaints about PEB allocation.
