This morning the Government has announced that Sonita Alleyne CBE, Bill Matthews and Aideen McGinley have been extended as Trustees for a further six months. Their terms had been due to end before April 2017, when the BBC Trust will be replaced by a new BBC Board, and the extension of their appointments is to allow for a smooth transition to this new governance arrangement.

Sonita Alleyne sits on the Trust’s Editorial Standards Committee along with Bill Matthews who chairs the Trust’s Complaints and Appeals Board and Audience Council Scotland. Aideen McGinley sits on the Trust Management Group, the Trust’s Services Committee and chairs Audience Council Northern Ireland.
