BBC Trust

The Trust has today put out a call for evidence asking to receive submissions to its impartiality review on the BBC’s reporting of statistics in its news and current affairs programming.

Dame Jil Matheson, who is chairing the independent panel leading the review, would like to invite interested organisations and those with specific expertise in this area to submit written evidence about the BBC’s reporting of statistics but in particular on the topics which have now been chosen for the review: economics, health, migration and welfare.

The closing date for submitting evidence is 31 December.

The Trust can also confirm today that the content analysis for the review will conducted by Cardiff School of Journalism Media and Cultural Studies, Cardiff University.

Next steps

The independent panel will take written submissions into account as well as content analysis and audience research when completing its assessment. The panel members will also be meeting with specific organisations in order to gather oral evidence ahead of the review’s publication next summer.
