Why is there a blank screen on the website where programmes would normally play?

If you’re getting a blank screen (like below) when using BBC iPlayer, try the following troubleshooting steps.

  1. Refresh the page
    If you're using a Windows PC, press the F5 key on your keyboard. If you're using a Mac, hold down the Command key and then press the R key.

  2. Try another browser
    You could be having an issue with a particular browser, so try another to see if that helps. Check the Supported internet browsers and operating systems page for a list of browsers we support for use with BBC iPlayer.

  3. Clear your cache
    If the programme plays on a different browser, try clearing the cache on your original browser as this may resolve the issue. Check the following page for help: How do I clear the cache (browsing data or temporary internet files)? 


Does it only happen when switching to full screen?
