The Democratic strategist, Ameshia Cross was questioned about a report by Special Counsel, Robert K Hur, which recommended not taking action against President Biden over the retention of official documents containing classified material. The presenter was criticised for showing a “disdainful attitude” towards the President. The ECU considered whether the programme met the requirements for due impartiality set out in the BBC Editorial Guidelines.
Outcome
On occasions when questioned about the report’s conclusions about the President’s alleged lack of mental acuity, the interviewee did not respond directly. The presenter returned her to the point of his questions in what the ECU judged was an appropriate manner.
