This article contained the following statement about Julian Assange: “In 2010, he faced separate charges of rape and sexual assault in Sweden, which he denied. He spent seven years hiding in Ecuador's London embassy, claiming the Swedish case would lead him to be sent to the US”.  A reader complained this was inaccurate because  Mr Assange had not been formally charged with these offences.  The ECU considered whether the item met the standards of due accuracy set out in the BBC Editorial Guidelines.
